A crack, like board hitting board, echoed through the Steles, stone blocks, before something thudded the ground by her ear and tore at her hair.
“Ouch. What was that?” She looked up at Raphael and gasped.
Blood flowed from a hole in his chest, streaking down his torso into the earth at his knee. With a growl, he fell on top of her and rolled them into the cover of the jungle.
“Raphael! Raphael, are you all right?” She moved from underneath to roll him onto his back. Blood continued to flow from his wound, but at a slower pace.
“No, although, I will be.” He squeezed her hand and looked her up and down.
“The bullet went clear through. Thank God it didn’t hit you.”
“Bullet?” She leaned over him to draw in a breath. “It wasn’t silver.”
“No. It’s my guess they’re just thrill-seeking poachers.” He struggled to his feet. “But we have to go. They’ve started to track us.”

The Hunted by Donna Michaels is a fast paced and a fun read. It will keep you guessing until the end. Raphael and Jaden are so in love that they will do anything and stop anybody from taking that love away. I was cheering Jaden on as she searched for the poachers and killed them. What a love they have makes me want that love also. Thank you Ms. Michaels for a book I will not forget for awhile.

Although this is a short story penned by Donna Michaels, from the very first line I was grabbed. There is quite a bit of suspense and action within these few short pages. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next. I am a big fan of Donna's and I just love her writing style. I would definitely urge any reader to pick up one of her stories. I guarantee you will be hooked too.Alisha ~

The Hunted is the short story of a woman who must abandon all her preconceptions, her doubts, and fears if she is to save her soul mate from death. Donna Michaels tells a riveting tale, which could easily have been longer. This story is an action, rather than a sexual, tale, as Jaden combats her adversaries claws and teeth…against loaded guns.

A charming quickie that makes shape-shifting seem a real and believable occurrence. I enjoyed this tale, especially the way the beginning was also the end.
The Hunted is most definitely a highly charged, fast paced adventure. From the opening lines when we meet Jaden and Raphael engaged in a passionate encounter in the jungle, we know we’re in for a wild ride. Passion between Jaden and Raphael is hot and heavy, showing us with action as well as words that these two are destined mates.
