I just finished Cowboy Burn by Gem Sivad in the Ring In A Cowboy Anthology. Great story in a great collection. Truly the best group of stories I think I’ve ever come across. As usual with me, when I come across an author I like, I go looking for other stories by that author, Gem Sivad in this case. So I went looking for “Rhythm (Smoke Inc.)”, the next this series. Haven’t found it yet, but I did find Gem’s Unlikely Gentleman series and picked that up. I’m not usually one to read Paranormal(which she also writes), but I do occasionally read Historical Romances, especially if it involves cowboys.
Lost my beloved five years ago. Your treatment of Harley-Jane’s wracked emotional state over her husband David’s death, indicates to me, you either have some experience in this area, or good communication with someone who does. I’m sorry for your or their lost. That’s when I switched from, almost exclusively, science fiction to romance. They bring back some of those feelings from the forty years three months and seven days I had with her as my wife. Our five kids make me laugh, but they don’t fill the empty spaces she left behind. I just wanted to thank you for your efforts at scribbling down stories. This one was superlative. I will eagerly await your future endeavors while I catch up on your back catalog. I can’t promise to read all the Paranormals, but I will probably give them a try.
Donna Michaels, one of my favorite authors drew me to this anthology and once again she didn’t disappoint. From this anthology, I think I have so far bought at least fourteen new to me novels from these authors, signed up to follow two of their newsletters. I highly recommend this anthology. John B
p.s. Sorry I didn’t say more about how much I enjoyed your contribution to this group of excellent stories. I really love the National Guard and cowboy themes and appreciate that you get so many of the details right. I was active duty Air Force enlisted from 69 to 73; my beloved served as both reserve and regular Air Force officer from 66 to 90. We saw a lot of interesting places and met a lot of great people.

      HI John,

I’m sorry I didn’t respond sooner, I just got a batch of messages from this post now. Thank you so much for the kind words. And I, too, love Gem Sivad. She’s wonderful! I’m very sorry for your loss. My husband is fulltime Army National Guard, so I make sure to keep things accurate in my stories, and with him in there, it also sparks ideas for stories. 🙂 Thanks so much for commenting. ~Donna

Your choice in characters is very enticing. However, have u ever thought of writing about “regular” people as protagonists? I am sure it would make for “hot” reading as well. Love your work so far.

      Thanks, again, Hilda!
I do have a few books out with non-military protagonists, but with my husband in the military for over 30 years, making one or more of them military is my way of saying thanks. That doesn’t mean I won’t have more non-military heroes/heroines in the future. It all depends on the characters. Thanks so much for asking! ~Donna
